A little about me…. 40+ years in the Human service industry with a BA in Health care administration from Concordia university, founder of Families First Inc a 501c3 providing care services to homebound and developmentally disabled individuals also having been certified as a senior care advisor and Veterans benefit agent in the past., with this I felt I had all the skills and abilities to assist my aging mother
However, while caring for my mother, I found how difficult it was for her receiving personal care from her adult child (even with the reassurance that what I did was out of love for her). We decided to bring in care from a local agency, while bringing in care for her, made her more comfortable, it was not cost effective for long term care at home.
I began the search of benefits my mother may qualify for, putting together a total care package. Utilizing all of the programs I found for financial and care services we were able to put a plan together, which allowed me to have free time without worry if mom fell during a bathroom visit or when she wanted a cup of coffee, I knew her needs were met. with a team built for her, giving her the needed care, she required and me the ability to be her daughter to the end of life.
Durning this period I had discussions with several of my peers regarding the enormous amount of red tape paperwork and documentation requirements in applications for assistance. We decided to collaborate bringing to you and your family our knowledge and proven sucess with care coordination.
